Metropolitan Business Council, a personal financial consultancy, today, pre-announced its entry into the small business, employee benefits field with the offer of a free, prescription drug discount card. The card is available to small businesses, membership organizations, church groups and non-profits. The card will provide holders with discounts on most prescription drugs of 10-40% at their local pharmacies. The card is a membership card, not insurance and is accepted at more than 50,000 participating pharmacies.
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 21, 2006 -- Metropolitan Business Council, a personal financial consulting firm, is announcing its entry into the small business/association Member benefits arena with the offering of a free, prescription discount card.
The card will save Members hundreds or even thousands of dollars every year on the high cost of their prescription drugs. Unlike some prescription drug cards, this one is simple, easy to use and is not insurance.
Members merely present their card at their local pharmacy and receive discounts off the store’s normal prices of 10-40%. It can be used with both brand name and generic drugs.
Sometimes pharmacies run specials on a certain drug or types of drugs, for diabetes for example which results in a price lower than the Member’s discounted price. In that case, the Member automatically receives the lower, special price.
The card is accepted at over 50,000 pharmacies across the country, including most chains and many independents.
MBC is targeting groups of 100 persons or more with this introductory give away, but will consider home based businesses.
In the coming weeks, MBC will roll out the other components of its association discount program.
There will be a full scale Medical/Dental discount program featuring discounts on:
· Doctor visits-10-30% off
· Hospital stays-10-30% off
· All dental work-10-60% off
· Prescription and non prescription eyewear-20-60% off
· Chiropractic-30-50% off
Although the doctors, dentists and other health professionals are the same one’s who provide services to insured patients, this program is not insurance. It is simply a Membership program. Members show providers their Membership card and they receive the discount on their treatment.
Although these plans are obviously a boon to the uninsured, they can also save money for those with insurance.
If for instance your dental insurance will cover 60% of the cost of a $1,000 crown, your out of pocket cost will be $400. When you first present your discount card and receive a 30% discount, your money out of pocket would be only $280.
Also, the card could would discount procedures not covered by many insurances, such as LASIK eye surgery.
With discounted health benefits, there are none of the usual problems and hassles with insured benefits. No exams or health questions. No pre-existing condition exclusions and no high prices.
Memberships are expected to cost less than $500 per year; yes, year, for a household!
The other category of benefits to be offered by MBC will be the services of the premier nation wide law clinic, in business for over 30 years and listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
This will make it easy for the average, middle class family to afford adequate legal representation. Rarely would they seek out an attorney to represent them in many everyday matters because of the high cost.
When disputing the terms of a lease or other consumer contract, in a small claims matter, or even a dispute with a creditor, these families are frequently at a disadvantage in these situations as the parties they are disputing with usually have attorneys advising them.
