Popular podcast The Writing Show announces its first writing weekend March 11th and 12th to help writers overcome procrastination. Listeners can submit exercises to help stimulate writers' imaginations.
Thousand Oaks, CA (PRWEB) February 22, 2006 -- Popular podcast The Writing Show has announced its first ever Writing Weekend, scheduled for March 11th and 12th, 2006, to help writers overcome procrastination. The rules are simple: "Sit your butt in a chair and write for at least three hours over the two-day period." Writers working in any genre—fiction, nonfiction, screenwriting, poetry, even blogging -- can participate.
One of the challenges writers face is making time to write. The Writing Weekend encourages writers to "just do it" by providing a bit of structure and a supportive group atmosphere. Writers are not required to share their writing. It doesn’t even have to be perfectly spelled. The one and only object of the weekend is to break through the block that keeps writers procrastinating.
"If I had had a Writing Weekend to egg me on, this press release would have been done months ago," quips Writing Show producer and host Paula Berinstein. "But seriously, I really owe the whole idea to Chris Baty, founder of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), during which participants turn out a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. What a wonderful idea!" Baty was a guest on The Writing Show in October of 2005, just before that year’s NaNoWriMo took place.
Writing Show listeners are submitting exercises to help stimulate participants’ imaginations. The exercises, which should be expressed as no more than about three sentences each, will be presented at the end of each podcast between now and the event and will also be found at the show’s Web site, http://www.writingshow.com. Writers can submit their ideas by emailing show producer and host Paula Berinstein.
