San Francisco CA (PRWEB) February 23, 2006 -- The American Inventor show may have people buzzing, but the top news story of the day is the Mosquito Awards™, your chance to suggest problems that American inventors can solve by nominating your biggest gripes about little annoyances that bite you in the backside for this year’s Mosquito's Top Frustrations awards.

“Because necessity, pain and frustration are often the mother of invention, we have decided to gather consumers’ most annoying issues and rank them in the Mosquito Awards™,” says Larry MacDonald, president of Edison Innovations LLC and founder of the Mosquito Awards™. “We want to share with American inventors the biggest opportunities for new products and new solutions that people would buy, if they could.” This is an opportunity to seed American inventors with needs that lead to new products.

In the first ever of its kind, Edison Innovations announces an open source opportunity for all of us to stimulate the creation of innovative solutions to our very own personal problems by nominating their stinger and zingers.

Nominating your favorite “love to hate it” frustration is a chance for humans to get back at all those annoying and bothersome quirks that people come across along the path of their everyday existence, things they normally ignore, and at the same time, stimulate solutions. Who knows? Your frustration may stimulate a new gadget, hand tool, power tool, gift item, or even a future TV. Examples of frustrations include coffee that gets cold as you drive, pets that don't come when you call them, and products that require an IQ over 200 to assemble them so they function.

The deadline for the 2006 awards is May 15, so there is still time to submit your nominations. By using the official entry form on the Mosquito Awards™ web site (http://www.mosquitoawards.com), participants can list up to ten frustrations and annoyances that really make them mad, including pains about products they use, what’s missing, or just dumb things they notice that could be more functional.

Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges who are experts in new product development, technical, and manufacturing culling the most popular, the most bizarre and the most intriguing frustrations nominated by the public from the tens of thousands of entries. The results will be announced to the public in June.

Edison Innovations LLC, the sponsor of the Mosquito Awards, is a company in Kenwood, CA developing a new method for developing product concepts that better serve consumers. Their intention is to increase society's capacity for creation and make use the extensive experience individuals possess, yet are unable to bring to bear to benefit the national economy.
