iPressroom, which offers public relations professionals tools and services for integrating the web into their publicity campaigns, reports a sharp rise in the number of inquiries for “Internet Pressroom Solutions” over the last three months, outpacing the number of incoming requests for “News Wire Distribution” for the first time in the company’s history.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 25, 2006 -- iPressroom, which offers public relations professionals tools and services for integrating the web into their publicity campaigns, reports a sharp rise in the number of inquiries for “Internet Pressroom Solutions” over the last three months, outpacing the number of incoming requests for “News Wire Distribution” for the first time in the company’s history.
An internet pressroom is the section of an organization’s web site where press materials, publicity photos, corporate facts sheets, video news releases, audio news releases and other corporate communications can be accessed. News distribution refers to the electronic delivery of press releases and other corporate communications.
Between Nov. 15, 2005 and Feb. 15, 2006, 48 percent of all incoming requests for consultations listed “Internet Pressroom Solutions” tools and services as most the in-demand, versus just 22 percent during the same period a year earlier, when “News Wire Distribution” was the most requested service offering.
“The web is now the first place journalists, investors and stakeholders turn for information and PR people know it. The press release actually has more value today from an archival stand point, than as a news breaking tool, as long as people can find them when they want them online,” said iPressroom founder and president Eric Schwartzman.
“And beyond just making sure people can find your news on the Web, the real opportunity of online PR is using your news to introduce constituents to your online presence, by participating in relevant digital conversations, which contrary to popular opinion, you don’t need a blog to do. Much as the news of the day presents an opportunity to get a company, brand or product in front of the media, that same information online presents an opportunity to attract and build a digital constituency, by providing people with information when they want it, rather than when you decide to push it over the news wire, or when the wire decides they’re not going to keep it online any longer.”
Incoming queries also drove requests for “Online PR,” “Search Engine Optimized Press Releases,” “RSS Feed Enablement” up to the second, third and fourth most in-demand services, consecutively.
Forty-four percent of all requests came from individuals at public relations agencies, 42 percent were from people at organizations on the client side and 14 percent came from communications professionals at non-profits.
The results are tabulated from several hundred incoming “Request a Consultation” survey forms, which iPressroom receives daily from its corporate website. The survey engine is powered by iPressroom’s internet pressroom management service.
