New online Pennsylvania real estate appraisal courses approved by state board of certified real estate appraisers enable Pennsylvania appraisal schools to expand online real estate course offerings.

MASON, Ohio (PRWEB) February 26, 2006 -- Thomson CompuTaught, part of The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC), and a leading provider of personalized educational information, announced today Pennsylvania’s State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers approved Thomson CompuTaught’s two online appraisal qualifying courses and four continuing education courses for the Pennsylvania appraisal school. In August 2005, Thomson CompuTaught was first to receive the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission’s approval for pre-license online Pennsylvania real estate courses.

“Thomson CompuTaught is pleased to be offering two online appraisal qualifying courses and four appraisal continuing education courses in Pennsylvania,” said Bud Hunsucker, senior vice president and general manager for Thomson CompuTaught, an imprint at Thomson Business and Economics. "Pennsylvania real estate appraisal schools that provide educational services for the real estate appraisal profession can now easily expand their course offerings with our proven online curriculum for Pennsylvania, offering individuals the convenience of online learning for success in real estate appraisal.”

Thomson CompuTaught is ready to partner with Pennsylvania schools to enable them to expand their business model to offer busy appraisal professionals a fast and convenient way to satisfy appraisal education requirements.
The approval includes two qualifying courses, the 60-hour Basic Appraisal course (that meets the new 2008 real property appraiser qualification criteria) and a 15-hour Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course along with four continuing education courses. Three of the approved appraisal continuing education courses provide 14 hours of continuing education: Appraisal Methods, Overview of Appraisal Process, and FHA Single Family Appraisal. The National USPAP Update continuing education course offers 7 hours of continuing education credit. These Thomson CompuTaught appraisal courses are deliverable via the Internet or CD-ROM.

The qualifying appraisal courses help appraisers meet Pennsylvania’s 120-hour education requirement for residential real estate appraiser. The Basic Appraisal course meets the new 2008 real property appraiser qualification criteria. The four continuing education courses fulfill Pennsylvania’s 28-hour appraisal continuing education requirement for license renewal every two years.

“Our high stringent standards for distance learning have been directly responsible for the widespread acceptance of online education for real estate and appraisal courses,” according to Bud Hunsucker. “Many education providers are challenged to meet these licensing requirements, but Thomson CompuTaught’s quality distance learning programs have led the industry in establishing high standards for the design of distance education.” Thomson CompuTaught’s mastery and fluency-based learning system for online real estate and appraisal course requirements:
- Tailors instruction to the needs of individual students to ensure mastery and fluency in each topic
- Provides interactive tutorials that monitor learner progress and provide feedback as needed
- Meets Pennsylvania’s required hours for qualifying courses and continuing education courses

To date, Career WebSchool in Pennsylvania has been approved to offer these online real estate appraisal qualifying and continuing education courses.

“As the pioneer in online real estate education, Thomson CompuTaught is excited to expand our online course presence to serve the real estate appraisal industry in Pennsylvania,” said Ed Moura, president, Thomson Business and Economics. “Thomson CompuTaught is ready to partner with Pennsylvania schools to enable them to expand their business model to offer busy appraisal professionals a fast and convenient way to satisfy appraisal education requirements.”

Schools can offer these proven online real estate appraisal courses either as an affiliate of the Thomson CompuTaught Education Referral Network program or as an approved provider under their own brand.
