In April, 2005, five time award-winning Music Video Producer/Director Raymond J. Schlogel got an idea for a feature film. By September 2005, he had “For Love & Stacie” a finished film in his hands, his first feature-length narrative product. In those few months, he wrote the script, shot and edited the footage, and laid in a soundtrack with strong Austin, TX roots.
Undeniably, Mr. Schlogel took a page out of Robert Rodriguez’s playbook and crafted a movie that took advantage of the assets that he had readily available. In his case, a Canon XL2 camera, a Sony Vegas editing suite, loads of friends in the Austin music and film scene, and about 3,000 bucks. Within the story written by Mr. Schlogel, most of the scenes were the result of a close collaboration with his co-star, April Perez. What he got is an excellent cutting edge drama titled, “For Love & Stacie.”
Capitalizing on current trends in technology, "For Love & Stacie" has even gone so far as to post a downloadable version of their trailer compatible with the latest Video iPODs.
The film follows recently-dumped filmmaker Michael Davis as he attempts to win back the heart of his true love, Stacie Jensen. As he implements his plan to rekindle their relationship, his desperation shows through in intriguing and sometimes disturbing ways. This film touches familiar nerves as it reveals elements of the politics of love that we all have felt when that love “needs to spend some time apart.”
