New Comedy SciFi Book Series Getting Rave Reviews

Spindle, the first book in a new series of comedy science fiction novels, has been met with effusive praise from reviewers and science fiction fans.

(PRWEB) February 28, 2006 -- Spindle, the first book in a new series of comedy science fiction novels, has been met with effusive praise from reviewers and science fiction fans.

The book, released last August by BookSurge Publishing, an Amazon.com company, tells the story of Peter Turner, a young man who joins the Space Force in 2129, only to find that being a cop in space isn't anything like he imagined (what job ever is?). In his first week, the Space Force get his name wrong, he's assigned to the worst ship in the sector (the Spindle), and he's partnered with a brutal thug from the Martian colonies, Trooper Oblun. The two troopers must fight bureaucracy, strange alien beings, and their natural incompatibility to uncover a traitorous plot to destroy the Earth. The book's early reviews point to a most enjoyable journey for readers:

"A rip-roaring, fast-paced tale in the tradition of Douglas Adams and Red Dwarf."
-- Eileen Mulligan, Illawarra Mercury newspaper

"A light-hearted, humorous romp -- a clear labour of love by an author who is obviously a huge fan of the genre and comedy in general. All credit to Taylor -- a cult fanbase could well be assured before too long."
         -- UK humor site Hecklerspray.com

"Doctor Who, meet Monty Python."
"An excellent first novel."
"Read this book, it will be treasured."
         -- Amazon.com reader reviewers

"Author Ian Taylor has a genuine flair for comedy and an obvious love for space opera style science fiction. The result is a wonderfully entertaining SciFi novel that is a genuine pleasure from beginning to end."
         -- Midwest Book Review

Spindle is available to the public on Amazon.com or from the official Spindle website, www.spindlebook.com. The second book in the series, Spindle: Wasteworld, is expected to be released in late 2007, and the author is also working on a screenplay adaptation.

Spindle author Ian Taylor, an Australian by birth, now lives in Massachusetts with his #1 fan and their three children. Mr. Taylor is available for interviews and can be reached at (978) 343-0507.
