With Jon Stewart hosting this year’s Awards Ceremony, it’s no surprise that even the Oscar parties are taking a decidedly smarter turn.
Gilded for Oscar night, L’Orangerie’s regal décor will be transformed to include a pristine white dance floor with a 12-piece jazz band in its crystal ceiling atrium and a tented “chill out” lounge in the garden. In the main dining room, guests will enjoy Chef Christophe Bellanca’s Duck Foie Gras Ravioli, Herbed Spiny Santa Barbara Lobster, Saddle of Lamb and Molten Chocolate Layer Cake -- all served amid antique gold linens with extravagant flower arrangements of yellow cymbidiums, gold roses, and white and yellow throated phalenopsis orchids.
Host Ben Mathis has a foot in both the entertainment and political worlds. A former Disney executive whose production company is now based at Universal, Mathis has worked on projects ranging from George Clooney’s Three Kings to film adaptations of major Broadway productions. At the same time, Mathis’ personal relationships include Presidents Clinton, Carter and Bush, and he plays an active role in organizations such as the World Economic Summit and the Gorbachev Foundation.
