Famed New England Joke Shop Holds April Fools' Contest - Four Eyes Joke Shop

The Massachusetts joke shop with the huge internet presence is searching for the Merry Prankster to preside over a parade celebrating the grandest prank day of all—April Fools' Day.
"This is the one day of the year when people go out of their way to make someone laugh through tricks, practical jokes, or gags," said Four Eyes Joke Shop owner Valerie Pontbriand. "What we're looking for is someone who is innovative, creative, and original in their desire to make people laugh. The intention of their prank, gag, or trick should be funny and playful, and not harmful in any way."
Contestants may submit ideas in any of four categories: pranks for the workplace, pranks for adults, pranks for kids, or pranks, tricks, gags for anyone. Complete contest rules, and a range of excellent practical joke supplies, are available on the web at www.foureyesaprilfools.com. Contestants should submit their prank, trick, or gag in writing via e-mail at contest@foureyesjokeshop.com or in-person at Four Eyes Joke Shop located at 296 Main Street in Southbridge.
"Your description should include detailed directions on how to execute the prank, its intended response, and any props necessary to pulling it off," said Pontbriand. "Keep it clean -- the focus of the contest is good humor and fun."
A winner will be selected from each category, and the Merry Prankster will be named from among the winners' pool. The three runners-up and the Grand Master Prankster will be announced on April Fools' Day – Saturday, April 1, 2006.
"The runners-up will be 'sur-prized' with twenty-five, fifty, seventy-five bucks, respectively, and the Merry Prankster will be 'sur-prized' with a hundred bucks," Pontbriand said. "The Merry Prankster will also be the honorary Grand Marshall of the April Fools' parade in downtown Southbridge, to be held this year on April 31st. All four winners will be featured on the Four Eyes website for one year."
