Pixel ad website, OneCentAds.com, donates 50,000 pennies to Guide Dogs of America after selling over half its inventory of one cent priced pixels.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 7, 2006 -- OneCentAds.com has sold out more than half of the pixel space available on their Million Penny Homepage. As a result of reaching this milestone, Martin Diekhoff, the creator of this penny pixel website, has donated a portion of his revenues to the Guide Dogs of America, an organization that trains seeing eye dogs.

Most pixel ad imitators found on the web are purely for the creator’s profit. However, Martin decided to pledge a portion of his site’s proceeds to charity. “I wanted a creative way to give back to the community,” says Martin who resides in the north Los Angeles area where the Guide Dogs of America is based.

Martin started his penny advert-site as a way to study web traffic while helping out a worthy cause in the process. Visitors and sponsors of the website have come from all corners of the globe. Nearly 50,000 visitors and 500,000 pennies later, Martin has been impressed by the variety and creativity of his advertisers, “Affordability and value has been a key to giving people the motivation to place some really unique and eye-catching promotions.” The colorful ads span a variety of shapes and images, touting everything from blogs to ukelele rock bands.

Like the wildly popular Million Dollar Homepage website, the Million Penny Homepage sells ad space by the pixel. A pixel is the smallest unit of measurement on a computer screen. The minimum amount a person can buy is 10 pixel by 10 pixel square, so just a buck buys you a virtual billboard about the size of a pencil eraser that visitors to OneCentAds.com can click through to your website.
