Little Girl Shares Baby Monsters’ Story In Hurricane Inspired Children’s Book

A new baby, three hurricanes, and fourteen imaginary friends help a five-year old girl and her daddy write a playful children’s book, My Baby Monsters and I Went to the Park.

Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) March 14, 2006 -- With the birth of child number two, Michael Baumgarten wanted to make sure his oldest daughter (Josie, 5) did not feel like she was losing anything.

So he searched for a way to give her something special... time. But what started off as a simple art project, turned into an imagination embracing adventure – one which led to the creation of an inspiring children’s book, "My Baby Monsters and I Went to the Park" (now available from www.mybabymonsters.com/childrensbooks).

The book is based upon the life of Josie and her imaginary friends (her baby monsters), and although it was conceived in the middle of three hurricanes, it’s not a story about the power of hurricanes, nor a child's fear of them, because despite the fact that the hurricanes destroyed her home, the baby monsters helped her live through it with a smile.

For this reason, her book is a whimsical tale of play, imagination, and a child gaining the courage to go on the big kid's playground for the first time... or as Josie says, “it's about when I was three, and I lived somewhere else, and I went on the playground."

In addition to the children’s book, Josie and her father have built a Web community at www.mybabymonsters.com to help families share their thoughts, imagination, and stories.

About The Author:
Josephine Baumgarten (Josie) is a five-year old girl who lives in the heart of Hurricane Alley. She has moved five times in five years, and loves playing with her friends and her dad’s computer.

About Author's Daddy:
Michael Baumgarten specializes in using technology and playful learning to help children develop and communicate. He has earned his Master of Education in Language and Literacy from the University of Fairbanks, Alaska, and has worked as a toy-maker for LEGO in Denmark. In addition, he’s worked as a teacher and curriculum developer, an education and communication specialist, and a writer and artist.

About The Imaginary Friends:
My Baby Monsters have lived with Josephine and her family for as long as she's been able to talk. While their numbers and names often change, one thing remains constant, My Baby Monsters push our boundaries and challenge us to explore, while still enabling us to be a nice boys and girls.
