BeeThere Launches Personalized Concert Listings via iTunes Integration

BeeThere integrates with its member’s iTunes collections and leverages high-tech search-engine technology to provide a personalized, yet comprehensive, view of concert events in major US cities.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 14, 2006 -- The music scene seems to revolve around the members of BeeThere.net. BeeThere integrates with its member’s iTunes collections and leverages high-tech search-engine technology to provide a personalized, yet comprehensive, view of events in major US cities. Instead of periodically searching the internet for a few of your favorite artists, people who become members can upload the lists of artists to track, from iTunes, with a click of a button. BeeThere will remember their preferences and provide custom views of events, showing both the events by the artists in their list, and recommendations of other shows, including a description of which artists in their collection triggered the recommendation. This New York City based site was recently launched by Carl Eklof, a local musician, concert lover, and software developer who originally envisioned the need for a site that addressed all of his own musical and nightlife needs.

“This is really a dream realized for me. I wanted to easily find out about the upcoming concerts in my area that I would enjoy. There needed to be a better way of bringing musicians and music-lovers together,” says Carl.

The proliferation of music collections on home computers was the critical component of making the dream possible. “There are a lot of websites with concert listings, they all take one of two forms; they either try to be comprehensive and end up listing too many events that are irrelevant to any particular user, or they are niche sites that only cover a small fraction of any person’s interests.” BeeThere solves these problems in two ways. They leverage state-of-the-art search engine technologies to allow people to filter the events by many criteria, such as the popularity of the artists, and by genre, etc. The most revolutionary method is by leveraging the list of artists in a user’s audio collection.

Instead of periodically searching for a few of your favorite artists, people who become members can upload the lists of artists from iTunes with a click of a button. BeeThere will remember their preferences and provide custom views of events, showing both the events by the artists in their list, and recommendations of other shows, including a description of which artists in their collection triggered the recommendation.

The original idea for BeeThere started around May 2002, when Carl became anxious for an alternative to checking the dozen or so web sites that he would need to read every month in order to find out what was coming up. As a touring musician himself, he also knew the pains and expense of promoting tours, trying to reach the people that would be interested in attending.

Today, BeeThere.net is an ever-evolving high-tech site that’s manned by recruited pros at Bee Software LLC. Carl also recruited an impressive list of partners to ensure a helpful, site-friendly experience; they include Amazon, Apple Computer (iTunes), and Ticket Network. But this is only the beginning of the musician-to-musician dream. In addition to a mind-blowing list of cutting-edge new features in the works, BeeThere.net is expanding to provide complete nation-wide coverage and tools for artists and promoters to manage their event information.
