Midwest news publication launches new podcast covering Midwest technology community
CHICAGO (PRWEB) March 20, 2006 -- MidwestBusiness.com, the publisher of 6-year-old online technology publication ePrairie.com, has activated a new podcast to breathe audio life into the personalities of the Midwest technology and business scene.
Broadcasts will be released regularly and will feature ePrairie’s editor-in-chief, staff writers, company co-founders and other boisterous characters who will for the first time be heard through the online audio waves.
The podcasts are a free complement to the textual ePrairie daily newsletter and Web site. ePrairie is the first Chicago technology news publication to foray into podcasting. While many readers enjoy the written word, the content creators at ePrairie believe a savvy audience is emerging and appreciating on-the-go audio packed with more flavor, resonance and personality.
“While some of our readers itch to send in e-mails when ‘the’ is spelled wrong on their screen, others are silent voyeurs who sit back and watch current events as they unfold,” said ePrairie editor-in-chief Adam Fendelman. “Now, whether quiet or loud, our readers will have the option of being immersed in the symphony of sound.”
“With the addition of a podcast, ePrairie is growing and is moving forward in the direction of what our readers want and expect,” said Lou Calamaras, director of sales at ePrairie.
Broadcasts will typically range from 10 to 15 minutes in length. IT expert Jim Carlini and biotech expert Michael Rosen will be among the initial featured personalities. Each podcast is structured in a conversational, stream-of-consciousness format rather than a news broadcast or Q&A session.
ePrairie has partnered with Chicago-based StoryQuest to produce the broadcasts. In addition to facilitating the ePrairie podcast, StoryQuest provides a range of mobile audio learning and communication solutions.
The firm combines its own knowledge harvesting methodology with the latest mobile audio production and distribution tools to help organizations capture and share the stories, voices and experience of their success with staff, customers and partners. Organizations such as Ciber, RSA Security, Lucent and others engage StoryQuest to capture sales, product and customer stories and share them using mobile audio tools such as iPods and podcasting.
