Robert Morris' Joe Walton Football Stadium Sets Video Technology Standard with Landro®

Robert Morris University recently conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Joe Walton Stadium - the newest football facility in the Northeast Conference and the first facility in the country to use “total Landro” technology.

Moon Township, PA (PRWEB) March 23, 2006 -- Joe Walton Stadium, the first football facility in the Northeast Conference to use Landro® technology, recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its opening at Robert Morris University.

The term Landro (www.landro.com) refers to the new way that the coaches at Robert Morris are studying video to help teach, motivate and inspire their players faster than previously possible with traditional methods. Games are digitally recorded and cataloged or broken down “live” on game day by graduate students for analysis by the coaching staff immediately after the game.

Defensive coordinators study formations, down and distance plays by “themes” that are automatically sent to coaches’ offices after they are broken down. Each coach’s office has a “networked” Landro, meaning that each coach is linked together electronically to form a digital play sharing network. Head Coach Joe Walton can work with his quarterbacks in his own office analyzing only the play themes or topics that are relevant to them. Players themselves go to a special Landro team room and study their opponent at the line of scrimmage. They study how they are performing on the field as well.

John Banaszak, Assistant Defensive Coach and former NFL player, said that players watch videos because they learn by seeing and doing. Since there is no videotape or DVD to fumble around with, the players get to spend more time actually watching the game. “It was tough to get them to watch tapes before because it’s so boring having to hunt for plays by rewinding and fast forwarding,” he said. “Now we jump from play to play quickly correcting poor performance before we go out to the practice field.”

About Joe Walton Football Stadium:
The $10 million facility, located at Robert Morris University, has a seating capacity of 3,000 with a field turf playing surface. It will hosts a 36,000 square-foot athletic administration building.

About IRIS Technologies:
IRIS Technologies is a privately held company that manufacturers and sells digital products that make video easier to use. The Landro Web site www.landro.com is filled with testimonials from coaches around the country who claim that Landro has helped them win more games and receive more scholarships for their student athletes. The company is currently branching out to other sports and educational markets. Landro play analyzer is being used in colleges and universities for video analysis in counselor training and speech pathology and has recently been installed at the Pentagon to analyze news footage of the war in Iraq.
