Worldlabel.com Incorporated, a major manufacturer of laser and inkjet computer printer labels in over 50 sizes and online supplier has developed and published SVG Document Templates Version 1.0, free label templates in SVG Document format.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 27, 2006 -- Worldlabel.com Incorporated, a major manufacturer of laser and inkjet computer printer labels in over 50 sizes and online supplier has developed and published SVG Document Templates Version 1.0, free label templates in SVG Document format.

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a language for describing two-dimensional graphics and graphical applications in XML. SVG 1.1 is a W3C Recommendation. Read more: www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/

SVG templates in 14 different label sizes have been developed by Worldlabel.com Inc. SVG Document Templates Version 1.0 utilizes both SVG and XML. The documents are in Internet Web browser form and can be viewed with Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer and other Web Browsers supporting SVG. These SVG documents are best viewed in Firefox. For better viewing of the documents with Internet Explorer, right click on document and use the Zoom In and Zoom Out function. For editing, right click on View > Save Link As, open up in a SVG editor. Documents can easily be opened for designing and creating labels in several Graphic editors supporting SVG. Included are address, mailing, round, CD and DVD label templates and more. To view documents, please visit: www.worldlabel.com/Pages/svg.htm. Requirements: SVG viewer installed.

In order to create these documents, www.Inkscape.org a free Open Source draw program was utilized. Inkscape.org is a Vector Graphics Editor, similar to CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator, that strives to be SVG Compliant, responsive and extensible. These documents can be edited with Inkscape.org. SVG Document Templates Version 1.0 in conjunction with the www.Openclipart.org library gives you a complete end to end solution in Open Source for creating labels. SVG Document Templates Version 1 is licensed by Creative Commons.

“ We believe these types of documents can be used for a multitude of other graphic and design applications for quick viewing, proofing, Web transfer, opening, editing and printing. said Russell Ossendryver, managing director of Worldlabel.com Inc. Worldlabel.com sees large benefits using SVG files for Document Management when compared to PDF. They help start bridging the gap between web design and print design. SVG graphics are entirely code based and supports millions of colors and can actually be edited in a basic text editor. Also, SVG breaks the 216-color browser barrier so businesses can now present the same identity on the web as they do in print enhancing the value for presentation. The potential for wide spread use of this format for blank pre-press templates and other graphics applications is obvious. Worldlabel.com will release more label sizes including European paper sizes and intends to release templates for all standard size print media like business cards, flyer's, brochures, post cards, envelopes, media jewel cases for CD/DVD, etc. We believe that at some point soon these type of document formats will start becoming the universal choice for graphic designers.

Currently, Openoffice.org Draw only supports SVG natively. In order to view the documents, an SVG viewer is required which can be downloaded www.adobe.com/svg/ For opening and editing the documents in Openoffice.org Draw an SVG import filter and Java 1.5.x must be activated. To save edit images from OO Draw to SVG use the Export function. These documents can also be edited with several free Open Source graphic editors Amaya, Sketsa, GIMP and several others supporting SVG. Adobe, Corel and Quark have included SVG funtions in thier core product lines.

Worldlabel.com will continue to do further R&D with SVG Documents and will improve the quality of documents as code, components and technology become available. Worldlabel.com is dedicated to the Open Document Format (ODF) and Open Source movement and has recently published a complete collection of label templates for Openoffice.org Writer in US letter, A4 sizes for Europe and Asia, and a collection of label templates for Openoffice.org Draw. These templates utilize the XML format.
