JRS Architect, P.C., with offices in Mineola, NY, and Princeton, N.J. uses its expertise in retailing to make an architectural impact for a fashion merchandiser in Manhattan's Flatiron District.

Mineola, NY (PRWEB) March 27, 2006 -- In the world of fashion, making a impact is essential. JRS Architect, P.C. has had an architectural impact in the fashion industry, right in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District.

JRS Architect, P.C., one of America’s top architectural firms, has launched itself into the high-end retail scene with its recently completed, dramatic, 10,000 square-foot showroom at 11 E. 26th St. for JLA Home, a Fremont, Calif.-based division of China’s E&E Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of high quality home textiles.

The showroom, dedicated in part to the first-ever home furnishing creations of lingerie designer Josie Natori, also showcases JLA’s own designs and soon will feature designs under the Eddie Bauer name. Remarkably, the project was designed, detailed, permitted and constructed in just 12 weeks time.

“The team at JRS Architect did an excellent job designing our showroom space to be both a functional and dramatic showcase for our varied brands and product lines,” said Scott Howard, Vice President of sales at JLA Home. JRS “had a clear understanding of our needs and desires and worked closely with our general contractor every step of the way to keep the project on its timeline and on budget. We are very pleased with the finished product.”

“We’ve created a space that allows JLA Home to expand its national operations,” said JRS Senior Vice President Alex Hadjiyane. “The project represents an exciting direction for JRS Architect, P.C., which is well known for its design excellence in the corporate, financial and medical industries. “We’ve taken our expertise and put it into a high-end showroom in New York City,” said Hadjiyane. “This type of work is a natural extension of our expertise and clearly indicates that we do retail.”

The second-floor space, featuring 14-foot high ceilings and views of Madison Square Park, presented an ideal space for creating a unique forum to market products on display in three connecting showrooms.

“There had to be a comfortable flow created by simple surfaces and materials through the three connected showrooms, while maintaining differences between branded looks for different product lines,” said Ray Maggiore, Design Director at JRS.

Lighting plays an important role in the showroom’s technical design. Custom lighting is used to illuminate the classic New York City concrete structure and create a canopy of indirect and product spot lighting. The lighting, combined with custom display cases and a bamboo floor, added warmth to the space.

“We aligned the product displays as area dividers and utilized the building systems to create a minimalist atmosphere, thus allowing the product to stand out,” said Maggiore.

JRS Architect, P.C. with offices in Mineola, NY, and Princeton, NJ, has grown from six people since its establishment in 1986 to more than 30 today serving New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It has developed design expertise in the corporate, financial, healthcare, educational and retail markets. The firm has ranked within Interior Design Magazine’s list of 100 Giants in the nation for the last two consecutive years and within the top 25 of Interior Design Magazine’s 2005 Healthcare Giants.
