(PRWEB) March 25, 2006 -- Close friends and family members have confirmed to Beverly Hills People the eerie coincidences surrounding Peter and Kathleen Tomarken’s wedding day and the day they died in a plane crash together.
They were married in an airplane. Everything ended the same way for Peter and his wife.
The now-famous plane crash near Santa Monica Pier last week proved to be an ironic bookend to the marriage of Peter Tomarken, former game show host and television personality, and Kathleen Abigail Tomarken, a former hairstylist Peter met while working on a t.v. show.
Peter was said to be an avid flyer and registered owner of the single-engine Bonanza that took off from Santa Monica Airport the morning of March 13. As was often the case since they met, Kathleen was his eager passenger as they took flight together one last time.
“Peter was the type of guy that had a smile and charm that would instantly connect with others,” said a friend who requested anonymity and who had known Peter over the last 25 years.
“He was loved by all who came to know him. It was ironic that he died doing something selfless for someone else. It was such a senseless tragedy for Peter and Kathleen to end this way,” the friend concluded.
Crash update:
The FAA has released audio tapes recording Peter’s voice during the 4-minute flight that ended with his fatal plane crash.
The tapes indicated apparent trouble just moments after Tomarken piloted his aircraft away from the Santa Monica airport.
The exchange between Tomarken and the San Diego Tracon facility run by the FAA indicated that Peter had realized his plane would not make it back to Santa Monica Airport after he confirmed engine trouble.
"What's the nature of your emergency?" asked an air traffic controller.
"I'm losing the engine. It's going out on me," said Peter.
The Tomarken’s were bound for San Diego on a voluntary medical mission to fly a patient back to the UCLA Medical Center.
The bodies of Peter, 63, and Kathleen, 41, were identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office and were buried last Friday at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City. Both share the same plot, one laid to rest above the other.
