Local Austin author joins growing number of self-publishers on pioneering online bookstore.
Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 23, 2006 -- Daniel R. Castro, an attorney and author based in Austin, Texas, became one of the earliest adopters when pioneering online bookstore BackOfTheRoom.com launched in late 2005.
After spending nearly nine years working on his book, Castro completed and published his book on September 11, 2005. Castro achieved some remarkable successes in launching his first book, including getting it placed on the shelves of Barnes & Nobles Booksellers stores. This is a rare feat for a self-publisher.
Being local to Austin, Texas, Castro met Steven List, co-founder of Back of the Room (www.BackOfTheRoom.com), an online bookstore specializing in self-published and small press works. List and Castro met through their involvement in the National Speakers Association, Heart of Texas Chapter (www.nsahot.org). According to List, "I've read a lot of books on leadership and personal growth, and this is one of my favorites." List says that he asked Castro to be one of the earliest authors to list their books on Back of the Room, because of his belief in the book and its message.
Still in its early stages, having launched in late 2005, Back of the Room has been slowly but steadily growing its catalog of self-published and small press works. Included on the site are books from many genres, from business to murder mysteries, poetry to children's books.
Castro's book, "Critical Choices That Change Lives: How Heroes Turn Tragedy Into Triumph" has gotten outstanding reviews on Back of the Room and elsewhere, and has recently been named as a finalist in the Book of the Year Awards by ForeWord Magazine. The winners will be announced in May in Washington DC.
Castro's book is available from Back of the Room at http://www.BackOfTheRoom.com.
