Fiction Thriller Has All the Ingredients for a Must Read Book – Sledgehammer

Want an excellent fiction book to read? One with action, thrills, and a terrific plot. Look no further, Sledgehammer has it all. This book will have you anxiously awaiting the next page and wondering, could it happen today.

Los Angeles, CA, (PRWEB) April 6, 2006 -- Look up the word “Fiction” in the dictionary and you’ll find it’s a story not based on reality but invented and fashioned to entertain or deceive. That’s the perfect description of the medical thriller, Sledgehammer, packed with all the ingredients of a good fiction book: imaginative, suspenseful, with a terrorist plot involving smallpox, and plenty of action, but deceiving enough to make you wonder whether it’s real.

The story unfolds in a Los Angeles hospital’s emergency room where a man appears with flu-like symptoms and later dies. The underlying plot involves terrorists plan to spread smallpox into several sports arenas, airports and shopping malls to maximize its deadly effects.

The book’s lead character, Max Kroose, an intuitive emergency room physician, suspects smallpox and determines terrorists are to blame for the attack. He fears the more lethal form of smallpox, called Sledgehammer, will kill within days. But he must convince the hospital’s top officials and the government before an epidemic breaks out and it’s too late.

Journey through the massive panic of outbreak, the initial diagnosis, the convincing of the staff and the higher ups of the diagnosis and the rush to find a cure. It’s a plot that will leave you glued to each page to see what happens next as you attempt to answer the question could this possibly happen in real life.

Author Dr. Paulo Reyes, an ER doctor and First Responder in Los Angeles, brings the book its startling reality because of his 25 years of medical experience and his extensive research on smallpox.

Although smallpox is considered a dead disease, its presence in certain laboratories is widely known, making it available for a possible terrorist threat. The Centers for Disease Control considers smallpox as one of the possible agents of a bioterrorist attack and for that reason Reyes supports voluntary smallpox vaccinations.

You fiction and science fiction buffs will love this action-packed drama. You will love the plot and the characters; yearn for the cure; and a way to stop the terrorists. Sledgehammer is 200 pages of great reading.
