Washington, D.C. (HRMarketer/PRWeb) April 19, 2006 -- The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that over 600 professionals participated in its inaugural National Human Capital Summit in Chicago, April 6 and 7. The Summit audience was comprised of human capital and line executives from leading companies, not-for-profit organizations, government agencies, and the academic community.

"We are extremely pleased that so many people attended the Summit, but what really impressed us was the caliber of individuals, and how many work environments were represented," said Allan Schweyer. "People from vastly different organizations were brought together by a common bond: the understanding that talent will be the key driver for success in the knowledge economy."

Delegates included professionals from American Cancer Society, Bank of America, County of Los Angeles, Ford Motor Company, JP Morgan Chase, Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., Pfizer Inc., U.S. Army, and the University of Toronto, to name just a few. The event was truly global in scope, with professionals traveling from as far away as Australia and Russia to attend.

Those in attendance heard keynote speaker Richard Florida, author of the best-selling book "The Rise of the Creative Class," explore the relationship between creative knowledge workers and success in a global economy. Among other speakers were Rich Kaarlgard, Publisher of Forbes Magazine, Dr. Peter Cappelli, Wharton professor and human capital visionary, Dr. Roger Martin, Dean of Rotman Business School at University of Toronto, Dr. Sydney Finkelstein, author of "Why Smart Executives Fail" and Professor at Dartmouth's Tuck Business School, Dr. Jac Fitz-enz, internationally recognized authority on human capital benchmarking, and renowned leadership pioneer Dr. Noel M. Tichy.

"The program was inspiring. The pre-conference workshop that I took on retention was the best one that I have ever taken. I'm already in the process of integrating that program in house," said Ron Thomas, Vice President of Organizational Development for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.

The Human Capital Institute's 2007 Summit Conference and Expo will take place in Phoenix at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort, March 20-21, with pre-conference workshops on March 19.
