DayPort and Quantel Get Together for Seamless Integration

Partnership maximizes content utilization across multiple content delivery platforms and media streams.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 22, 2006 -- At NAB 2006 DayPort and Quantel are together demonstrating how broadcasters and media companies can extract maximum value from content with seamless integration -- publishing simultaneously for broadcast, the web and the rapidly growing array of video-capable mobile devices.

As soon as journalists or editors have completed production and published any content on the Quantel sQ integrated server-based production system, the material is automatically extracted by DayPort’s Carbon Publish (part of DayPort’s Carbon Content Management System). It is then immediately converted to the correct formats and delivered to each media stream -- the internet, cell phones, iPods and other mobile services. The integration of the two technologies has already been proven in service at the UK’s BSkyB, where its Sky News interactive service takes content from Sky News’ Quantel sQ production system and delivers content to BSkyB’s customers, which include Europe’s cellphone providers, Vodafone and Orange.

“The seamless and transparent integration between DayPort and Quantel provides the opportunity to deliver content to more platforms, enabling content providers to make their output available to more consumers,” said Andy Ioannou, SVP Sales & Marketing, DayPort Inc. “DayPort’s Carbon Content Management suite of solutions offers an added value layer to the Quantel sQ production platform, allowing content management, workflow and content publishing within a single production solution,” Ioannou continued. “The alliance between Quantel and DayPort provides a comprehensive platform to address all these needs. The rapid convergence between conventional broadcast production systems and the needs brought about by the delivery of content to extended platforms means that the logical solution offered by DayPort and Quantel makes perfect business and operational sense.”

Norman Rouse, Quantel Group Marketing Manager, Broadcast added “Delivering content in a timely fashion to as many revenue-generating streams as possible is a central demand of today’s media business landscape. With the sQ system capable of providing top quality finished content quicker than any other production system on the planet, it makes compelling sense for our customers to fully leverage this competitive advantage across every media outlet available. DayPort’s market-leading Carbon Content Management system makes this incredibly quick and easy to do without requiring major changes to workflow. It’s possible thanks to the openness of the Quantel and DayPort systems, and is a fine example of how such partnerships can dramatically enhance both workflow and business potential for broadcasters.”
