Nexgen Server SDK 3.1 Released

The Nexgen Server SDK 3.1 lets developers quickly add client/server architecture to their C++ applications. Developers can also add Windows support for either TCP/IP or UDP servers. In addition, TCP/IP servers can take advantage of two server types: a redirect server or a fully functional FTP server. Version 3.1 offers new FTP commands (MLST, MLSD, and MDTM) that are part of an Internet draft allowing modern FTP client software to obtain file information more efficiently than the common RFC-959 standards allow. The SDK also helps software developers install and remotely control Windows services.

Madison, AL (PRWEB) April 25, 2006 -- Software developers who need to add redirect functionality – or a fully functional FTP server – now have a new tool available.

The Nexgen Server SDK version 3.1 offers enhanced security along with new FTP commands that exceed RFC-959 standards.

“Version 3.1 lets developers quickly add client/server architecture to their C++ applications,” says SDK creator Brian Davis. “Developers can also add Windows support for either TCP/IP or UDP servers. In addition, TCP/IP servers can take advantage of two server types: a redirect server or a fully functional FTP server.”

Davis says the redirect feature can help bridge the gap between a company’s secure intranet and the clients who need access.

“If outside users need access to a custom server on the secure intranet,” says Davis, “the SDK can produce a server that’s accessible to both the outside Internet and the company’s intranet – without compromising the intranet’s security.”

Davis says that the FTP server provided with the Nexgen Server SDK offers a great deal of flexibility.

“Developers can add the support of a fully functional, RFC-959-compliant FTP server,” says Davis. “They can control permission levels for client sessions and assign virtual root directories to individual users. Basically, any command that can be issued by an FTP client can be policed by the server.”

Finally, the SDK helps software developers install and remotely control Windows services. “Writing interactive Windows services isn’t exactly easy,” says Davis, “but the Nexgen Server SDK helps ease the pain.”

What’s New in Version 3.1
Nexgen Server SDK 3.1 offers new FTP commands (MLST, MLSD, and MDTM) that are part of an Internet draft allowing modern FTP client software to obtain file information more efficiently than the common RFC-959 standards allow. Two existing FTP commands (FEAT and OPTS) have been modified to support the newer FTP commands. Additionally, a security enhancement has been added to the FTP server engine.

Included with the Nexgen Server SDK are C++ examples of how to use the SDK, C++ classes that provide developers faster integration, and complete on-line support for SDK functions. For more information about the SDK and its features, please visit the website at www.nexgenserver.com.
