The Small Town Poker Tour, the world's largest amateur poker tour, will help Native American's raise much needed funds for the North American Indigenous Games.

(PRWEB) May 1, 2006 -- The Small Town Poker Tour(STPT) announced today a series of Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournaments at Indian casinos across the country. Proceeds from the tournaments will benefit the North American Indigenous Games.

The Tour will be conducted exclusively in Native American casinos throughout the United States. “With the immense popularity of poker, it was a natural for us to join forces with the Small Town Poker Tour to raise much needed funding for this noble cause,” stated Gene Keluche, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Native American Sports Council. Mark Fracalossi, Executive Producer of the STPT added, “This is what the STPT is all about – a great game and great causes. In Canada the games are funded by the government, but in the U.S. they rely solely on private funding from individuals and participating tribes”.

In addition to cash payouts, the STPT will offer a seat to the WSOP Main Event plus travel expenses. The schedule of events is expected within the next few weeks. It will be posted online at www.smalltownpokertour.com. Players interested in the tour can call or visit their local Native American casino or register to play at the STPT web site.

The North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) celebrate the sport and culture of indigenous peoples across North America. Recognized by the Aboriginal Peoples and Governments of Canada along with Tribal nations throughout the U.S., the 2006 North American Indigenous Games will take place July 2 – 9, 2006 in Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado. NAIG 2006 offers competition in 16 sports for athletes of all abilities between the ages of 13 and 22. Approximately 6,000 to 8,000 athletes and 40,000 to 50,000 family members and spectators are expected to take part in this eight-day event. More about the 2006 North American Indigenous Games can be found on the web at www.naig2006.com.

The Native American Sports Council (NASC) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). The NASC is the organizer of NAIG 2006. Since 1994, the NASC has served as a community-based multi-sport member of the USOC. In doing so, the NASC has conducted numerous sports and wellness programs in Native American communities. It has also produced sports development programs and tournaments to identify and support Olympic hopefuls. More on the Native American Sports Council can be found at www.nascsports.org.

The Small Town Poker Tour is the world’s largest amateur poker tour, searching for the top Amateur poker player in the world; raising money for local charities every stop on the tour.
