Podcaster Lands Record Deal

John Romano's Best of Los Angeles Podcast announces its first record release with Avant Garde A Clue, Inc. With 4.5 million U.S. users last year and 11.4 million expected in 2006, podcasts have exploded, creating an unprecedented path to the mass media. Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 4, 2006 -- John Romano’s “Best of Los Angeles Podcast” announces an exclusive world premiere release on Apple’s iTunes this week.

With 4.5 million U.S. users last year and 11.4 million expected in 2006, podcasts have exploded, creating an unprecedented path to the mass media. Some of the best podcasts are starting to generate income from various sources including advertising and record deals.

“Avant Garde A Clue, Inc. approached me about putting together a best of the Best of Los Angeles iTunes release. Having what I do generate income or record sales is a real buzz for me.”

Mr. Romano and Avant Garde A Clue secured licensing rights for 13 songs by such L.A. luminaries as Dakota, Jaime Paxton, Mitchell, Grandville, Mat Jones, Raeana, David La Chance, Cleo Antonelli, the Spectacles and, yes, even a pair of songs by Mr. Romano himself.

“So many of the artists I play on the show are people I’ve known from LA for the past five years who are just really gaining exposure. Helping a great group of local artists move forward is very rewarding”. One in particular, Jaime Paxton, has sold thousands of records due to her songs being included on MTV’s "Laguna Beach" soundtrack.

Podcasting as a whole has been given great press attention as of late, no longer a “garage-band” only outlet, as the New York Times, The Washington Post, ESPN and others now issue weekly podcasts.

“Podcasting is slowly changing the way people expect to receive media content. In the future I’m certain customizable elements will be included in a podcast. For instance, I’ll occasionally play a country record on the show. Eventually users will be able to omit that section with a click of a button.”

John Romano’s Best of Los Angeles Podcast is heard live on the radio on KYOU San Francisco and is available for download at Yahoo, iTunes or directly from johnnyrome.com.

The record "Best of Los Angeles Podcast Music, Volume 1" is currently available exclusively on iTunes.
