"Green Girl" by John Romano is the first song by the new crop of environment friendly artists to garner mainstream radio success. "I really believe in the green movement, I'm not talking about sabotaging SUVs, but cars running on corn oil is a fantastic development and in my opinion environment friendly and reusable fuels are the world's only option moving forward." Recorded by David La Chance at the Farmhouse Los Angeles, the song's catchy hook evokes hints of Lou Reed's lighter work.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2006 -- John Romano's latest release "Green Girl" breaks onto to the American adult contemporary radio charts. Released on Avant Garde A Clue, Inc.'s itunes only label "Green Girl" is the follow up to Mr. Romano's 2005 remake of John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War is Over)".
Avant Garde A Clue, Inc., Vice President Laura Glendinning, states that "as far as we can tell this is the first song with ecological undertones to reach a mainstream chart." Mr. Romano is part of new breed of green artists. Many of whom or shunning CD's altogether in favor of digital downloads only.
The song written four years ago had a different meaning at first. "Originally the song was about a pretty girl I saw in Berkeley California buying bagels" Mr. Romano said. As the environment has taken center stage the last few years the songs meaning morphed. "I really believe in the green movement, I'm not talking about sabotaging SUVs, but cars running on corn oil is a fantastic development and in my opinion environment friendly and reusable fuels are the world's only option moving forward.
Ms. Glendinning continued "Green Girl is a song that shows green doesn't mean boring and can actually be sexy and cool. Many corporations are doing the same, for instance Heineken constantly works to lessen the amount of water and energy needed to brew its beer. Other's like Greenfeet, an all green department store in Chico, California, search and search until they find products that are just as good as name brand stores but are made with the environment in mind."
Recorded by David La Chance at the Farmhouse Los Angeles, the song's catchy hook evokes hints of Lou Reed's lighter work. Being compared to Lou Reed is a statement Mr. Romano has grown used to. "I never heard Lou Reed outside of 'Walk on the Wild Side' and 'Sweet Jane' until I was told about fifty times how much I evoke him in my singing. Over time I've become a Lou Reed fan and consider the comparison an honor".
"Green Girl" is available on itunes but is available as a free download this week only at www.johnnyrome.com/greengirl.htm
