SAP Customers to Present Experiences with Efficient Data Loading

At the 2006 American SAP Users’s Group (ASUG) annual conference in Orlando, two SAP customers will be leading sessions describing large productivity improvements in SAP data loading by leveraging data in Microsoft Excel.

Bothell, WA (PRWEB) May 4, 2006 -- On May 15 and 16 2006 at the American SAP User’s Group (ASUG) annual conference in Orlando, two SAP customers will be presenting their experiences with improving the total cost of ownership in their enterprise software system by empowering SAP business users to load data en masse into their SAP systems. The process improvements at these companies were enabled by software complementary to SAP provided by Winshuttle, Inc (http://www.winshuttle.com). Winshuttle will be also be demonstrating this software at Booth 606 of the ASUG Exhibition Hall.

This first presentation, Take control of your SAP HR Data Migration by Mary Hodgmon & Subodh Verma of the City of Tacoma will show how the City of Tacoma reduced programming costs by applying best practices for data cleansing and uploading, during a data migration project. Without significant business or technical impact, City of Tacoma’s business units migrated eight years of PeopleSoft data into SAP—without relying on programming staff. Using the methods described, the City attained significant productivity and data quality improvements because those most familiar with the data performed the data creation, updates, and cleanup themselves. The results? Maximum value for the HR implementation, and clean, usable historical data for reporting.

The second presentation, Cost Management and User Empowerment in SAP Data Loads, will be made by Chantal Gauvreau of the Canada Post Corporation. Canada Post has the largest implementation of standard SAP functionality in Canada. Since the initial go-live in 2002, users were required to rely on a third party IT supplier to produce SAP CATT/ABAP scripts to load even basic data in SAP. This was a costly and sometimes labor intensive process which involved detail business requirement definition, approval of funds, intensive testing and usually long waiting periods. With over 7,000 core SAP users, Canada Post was looking for a cost effective and timely method to allow its various business units to upload data, without having to rely on 3rd party programmers. This would also allow the 3rd party IT supplier to focus on larger, more complex initiatives. This presentation will describe how Canada Post solved this problem and how this solution is being used to load financial postings, goods receipts, payroll salary revisions, job competencies, and letter carrier route revisions.
