Weekly dance event helps establish new DJ business league.
New York City, NY (PRWEB) May 10, 2006 -- A local disc jockey and promoter, DJ Mic Rage, best know for his organizing of the "Getaway" Music Festival in New Orleans last year, is introducing a new organization to the world of entertainment. Over the past year, with the help of a variety of entertainers from around the world, Rage has been quietly developing the membership and structure of a new business league, the International DJ Guild. The IDJG, as it is sometimes called, is designed to uphold the standards and practices of the growing community of DJ's worldwide.
In what is likely to become the first of many such events, New York's Pyramid Club will play host to a regular Wednesday night dance party featuring members and friends of the IDJG. Penetration - Music with a bite, will feature a less typical format of Punk, Goth, Alternative, Industrial, EBM, Glam and other dark stylings rather than compete with the numerous "House Music and Hip Hop" events already running in New York City. Future events will include live performances and guest DJ's.
The organization was founded by a group of performers that met through the online community website, DJ Gig Exchange on Tribe.net. The focus of the group is to not discriminate it's support of DJ's, regardless of the style of music, type of engagements nor medium used to deliver musical content to their audience. Over the course of the past year they developed a mission statement, a charter and board of directors and are presently incorporating as a business league. The group, which is primarily membership supported, has centered the business on the web and is setting up a number of services for it's membership. Discounted travel, hotel and car rental are provided to aid those seeking to expand their audience. Membership profiles are viewable by the public and venues seeking entertainers. The organization is working on providing group equipment purchases and insurance for it's membership.
