New Advancements in Recovery Tools Shortens Plastic Surgery Patients Healing Time

The Autologous Platelet Gel is being used in cosmetic surgery procedures today to minimize bruising, swelling and reducing the likelihood of complications after surgery.

(PRWEB) May 12, 2006 -- Recent advances in plastic surgery technologies allow skilled doctors to craft and shape your body into the figure you've always desired - with improved recovery tools that allow you to heal more rapidly than ever before.

One of these advancements is called Autologous Platelet Gel, a compound derived from a patient's own blood that increases healing and eliminates certain common cosmetic surgery complications. Before surgery, blood is drawn and then separated into its base compounds. The resulting highly concentrated plasma is then sprayed under the skin during surgery, where it bonds with the skin and holds the tissues together.

Platelet Gel reduces the need for excess drains and dressings, and also drastically reduces the occurrence of blood collections (hematomas) and fluid collections (seromas), in turn diminishing bruising and swelling. Platelets also promote rapid healing because they enhance the body's natural restoration processes.

Progressive and pioneering surgeons prefer to use Platelet Gel because other bonding techniques such as fibrin glue use blood from other people, which may or may not be compatible with every patient. Furthermore, blood borne diseases such as HIV and hepatitis could contaminate fibrin glue. The Autologous Platelet Gel is unique because it uses the patients own blood, thereby reducing the likelihood of complications and diseases while also accelerating healing.

For the last three years, acclaimed Houston plastic surgeon Dr. L. Fabian Worthing, III, has used the Autologous Platelet Gel process with extraordinary results in common procedures such as tummy tucks and face lifts.

"My patients love the results that they get from Autologous Platelet Gel," he reports. "There's less edema, less bruising, and less pain - and they return to normal activities faster, looking more beautiful and more refreshed than they've ever believed possible."

Dr. Worthing is one of the leading cosmetic surgeons in Houston, Texas and is considered one of the most talented and passionate doctors in the country. A member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, he is also frequently in demand as a medical expert witness in trials across the country.
