San Jose, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2006 -- Silicon Valley residents seeking the benefits of cosmetic surgery involving the face now have a dramatically new alternative that takes less time to perform and requires less recovery time without compromising the results achieved. Barry Press, M.D., has been performing this new method developed in Belgium, the European MACS-Lift (minimal access cranial suspension lift), for the past two years.

“The technique has many positive aspects compared to traditional face-lift surgery -- for example, a short scar, which does not go behind the ear, and the use of suspension sutures to lift the deep tissues,” said Dr. Press, who’s practice is based in San Jose, Calif., the heart of Silicon Valley. “This means less expense and less downtime -- a shorter time back to normal activities, usually seven to 10 days.”

This means less expense and less downtime -- a shorter time back to normal activities, usually seven to 10 days.
The recovery time for a traditional face-lift can take up to a month -- a lengthy time commitment that many potential patients can’t make given the demands of their job and family.

“Many of my patients come from the always-busy technology sector, so they can’t take much time off for major elective surgery,” said Dr. Press. “I believe the European MACS-Lift successfully resolves that issue. And with less operative time, less recovery time, less risk of complications, and a comparable or better result -- it has become the preferred technique among patients who feel the need to enhance their appearance and stave off the impact of aging in the valley’s highly competitive, youth-focused culture.”

Only a small number of surgeons in the United States have embraced this technique, though it continues to increase in popularity world-wide, and Dr. Press feels the basic technique is applicable to virtually all potential face-lift patients. He has performed about 50 over the past two years.
