Comprehensive online local coverage of weather and news events primarily drives increase.

Minneapolis, Minn. (PRWEB) May 30, 2006 -- Internet Broadcasting, the largest national platform of TV station web sites, today announced a 24 percent year-over-year visitor increase in April 2006. Comprehensive online local coverage of weather and news events primarily drove the increase. Internet Broadcasting publishes 74 TV station web sites for America’s premier broadcasters: NBC, Cox Broadcasting, Hearst-Argyle, McGraw Hill Broadcasting, Post-Newsweek, Scripps Howard, and Capitol Broadcasting Company.

According to Nielsen//NetRatings, Internet Broadcasting’s 24 percent increase in year-over-year visitors was the second highest among top online news sites, outpacing notable publishers like CNN.com, NYTimes.com, and Knight Ridder Digital. The 12 million visitor total represents the company’s 9th highest in its 10-year history.

“As more TV viewers use the Web to complement their established viewing habits, our growth demonstrates how well we’re positioned to service this demand,” said Julie Burrows, Internet Broadcasting’s EVP. “Our continued growth also validates the space we’re in and the quality in which we bring broadcast media to the Web.”

The visitor growth represents an aggregation of users across Internet Broadcasting’s national platform of 74 TV station web sites including WNBC.com (New York), NBC4.tv (Los Angeles), and TheBostonChannel.com.
