The program is called Coalition Veterans Challenge. The purpose of this program is to impact the productivity of as many disabled Veterans as can be reached in a very short amount of time. The program is simple yet extraordinarily effective in getting our disabled Vets back in the work force. For two years, FrogPad has tried to enlist many of the large companies that have profited from these wartime government contracts to contribute to a $1 million fund offering 5,000 + FrogPads free to American vets.
Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 29, 2006 -- FrogPad (www.frogpad.com) is challenging companies profiting from wartime government contracts to help disabled veterans. Two years ago today, Linda Marroquin, CEO of FrogPad, Inc. was recovering from the recurring intense pain of a closed head injury, that type of injury that no one can see, yet an injury that causes a nightmarish life of pain. It was one year after George W. Bush announced “Mission Accomplished” May 2, 2003.
Watching Memorial Day services, she saw that many disabled vets returning from Afghanistan and Iraq were losing their limbs because of IEDs. She only had a sense of what these young men and women were going through. According to the Military Severely Injured Center, http://www.military.com/support, in Washington, DC, there are between 4,000-5,000 vets with the loss or damage to an upper limb that will impact the rest of their lives. As President of FrogPad, Inc., a manufacturer of a one handed keyboard, she felt it her duty to give away free FrogPads to those vets that needed one. The quantity she felt would be given away might have been 500 units. As a start up company, this was an amount that the company could afford to offer.
The program would be called Coalition Veterans Challenge. The purpose of this program would be to impact the productivity of as many disabled Veterans as could be reached in a very short amount of time. The program is simple yet extraordinarily effective in getting our disabled vets back in the work force. This is an opportunity to give back to these brave men and women. It would be a great humanitarian deed along with being a great boost to their self image. And the design of the program was to find a sponsor that could see the advantage of promoting this program, and get the word out to the Veterans.
Yet now, the wars are not over. Instead of 500 disabled vets returning without a hand or an arm, there are now over 5,000 disabled vets missing a hand or arm. This is not even taking into consideration all of those vets returning with spinal cord injuries.
As a small company, it is a formidable task to give away so many FrogPads. For two years, FrogPad has tried to enlist many of the big companies that have profited from these wars, to contribute to a $1 million fund to offer 5,000 + FrogPads free to our vets. Not one company has offered to contribute, citing, among other excuses, that it was too politically sensitive.
FrogPad is asking any and all companies and individuals to contribute money for the Coalition Veterans Challenge. As a grass roots approach, all FrogPad asks is to contribute to your favorite veterans charity, requesting that the funds be used to buy a FrogPad at cost for a vet. FrogPad has established a network of FrogPad users around the country who would work with the vets to train them on FrogPad. And it doesn't stop here. Contribute to your favorite veterans charity and ask for the contribution to be any product that impacts productivity and that is also contributed at cost. It is time for American businesses to give back to the vets. This is not politically sensitive, this is politically timely.
