(PRWEB) June 1, 2006 -- Promise Keepers will launch its 16th year of conference ministry with President and CEO Dr. Thomas Fortson at the helm. Promise Keepers will visit 19 cities in 2006, including one new city for its major men's meetings, Spokane, Washington. At the 2006 events, Saturday mornings will feature in-depth facilitation, and Saturday afternoon, major Christians artists will present an after lunch concert.
Promise Keepers' theme for 2006 conferences is "Unleashed-Releasing the Raw Power of Your Heart." The all-new 2006 "Unleashed" program runs Friday night from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. (gates open Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.) and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 p.m. (gates open Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.)
The 2006 program presents a retooled conference format aimed at helping men do three things: discover their potential, find a pathway to optimize that potential, and move in that direction with a few other like-minded friends. The conferences will also include successful elements from past seasons: worship, special music, drama, video, and great speakers.
Emcee for all events is noted speaker Reggie Dabbs. The evangelist for all 2006 conferences is Dr. Bob Record, former president of the North American Mission Board-Southern Baptist Convention. Other speakers and facilitators include: Bishop Joseph Garlington, Crawford Loritts, Samuel Rodriguez, Joe White, Stu Weber, Mike Silva, Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, Rick Rigsby, Erwin McManus, Dan Seaborn and others.
The “Unleashed” conference opens with an up-tempo worship concert by Promise Keepers’ “house band” PK7, produced in association with Integrity Music. Featured artists at the Saturday lunch include Israel and the New Breed, Big Daddy Weave, the Katinas and others. Dramatic presentations will be performed by the group “Awaken” throughout the conference, marking the third straight year of performances by Joby Harris, John Torres, and the creative team from the Mosaic Church in Los Angeles.
Promise Keepers presents a catalytic program designed to get men’s attention and point them in the right direction of a vibrant, practical and effective Christian faith and lifestyle through the local church. Promise Keepers also produces resources, training, and networks to help local churches and pastors equip their men for passionate living and excellent service.
At a recent forum, Dr. Fortson stated, “There is disconnect between a man’s deepest wants and needs and the churches that need men so badly.” In the face of mounting evidence that men in particular are drifting away from traditional church, Dr. Fortson explained Promise Keepers’ position, “We find ourselves in the middle of this issue-- inspiring men to go deeper and encoraging their pastors who shepherd the men in the communities.
Dr. Fortson has lead Promise Keepers since October 1, 2003. Promise Keepers has directly reached more than five and half million men since its founding in 1990.
