Intermedia.NET Launches First 1 Gigabyte Business-Class Email Plans

Company is first major Microsoft Exchange hosting company to offer 1-gigabyte email accounts, following lead of consumer email like Gmail. Currently, most hosted Exchange companies offer 100 or 150 megabytes -- too little for most users.

New York (PRWEB) June 2, 2006 –- Intermedia.NET, the US leader in on-demand Microsoft Exchange hosting for small and medium businesses, announced the first 1 gigabyte business-class email plans. The company, which hosts over 100,000 business email accounts, aims to free users from the tyranny of “your account is full” messages, IT department threats, and blocked email when they exceed their mailbox limit.

Despite the fact that consumer email like Gmail or Hotmail gives gigabytes of space, Microsoft Exchange business email accounts have – until now – been stuck with as little as 100MB of space, and exorbitant charges of up to $5.95 for each additional 100 MB per mailbox.

This frustrates users who must regularly clean out their inboxes, or risk missing vital messages because their account is blocked for overage. Intermedia.NET research shows that business email users keep over 300 MB in mailboxes without size restrictions.

“Intermedia.NET has always led the on-demand Microsoft Exchange hosting industry, and we are pleased to break down the business email disk space barrier,” said Serguei Sofinski, CEO of Intermedia.NET.

“Gmail has raised consumers’ expectations about email accounts. So as more small businesses switch to hosted Exchange instead of trying to run their own email, we wanted to bring enterprise-class email into line with businesspeople’s expectations – and make their lives easier in the process,” added Sofinski.

Intermedia.NET’s new “Small Business 10” plan gives a small company 10 gigabytes of space and ten mailboxes, which can be expanded at any time. The space is aggregated, so customers can also divide it among mailboxes however they wish – for instance giving extra space to the CEO and less to part-time workers.

All email is hosted in an enterprise-grade Silicon Valley datacenter, with storage on an EMC storage area network and Microsoft Exchange running on clustered servers, meaning that if one should fail, the others automatically pick up the workload to keep running as normal.

In the hosting business since 1995 and hosting Microsoft Exchange since 2000, Intermedia.NET offered the first Exchange hosting solution specifically for small and medium businesses – enterprise-strength technology as a service for a low monthly fee, with no up-front investment.

Intermedia.NET is a Microsoft Gold Certified partner, and companies looking for hosted Exchange or Web site hosting know that Intermedia.NET will provide the absolute best in 24x7 support, as well as technical knowledge of the highest level.

The company offers a wide variety of Exchange hosting and Web hosting plans, from the smallest businesses with three users and upwards, to substantial mid-sized organizations. Intermedia.NET hosted Exchange plans start at $9.95 per month for each user and Web hosting starts at $5.95.
