National Speed Sport News Power Rankings, June 13, 2006

Each week, National Speed Sport News, America’s weekly motorsports authority for over 70 years, ranks the best drivers from all forms of motorsports. This week’s issue has the top three spots going to Sebastien Bourdais, Fernando Alonso, and Jimmie Johnson.

Harrisburg, NC (PRWEB) June 13, 2006 -- Sebastien Bourdais from Champ Car is the undisputed best driver in the world, according to the editors at National Speed Sport News. In the Power Rankings published by the weekly paper, Fernando Alonso from Formula 1 was in second place, and Jimmie Johnson from NASCAR Nextel Cup was in third. Each week the paper at http://www.NationalSpeedSportNews.com ranks the Top 10 drivers from all forms of motorsports based on points standings and their performance at the track.

Tim Kaeding fell out of the countdown after a rough week racing through the Keystone state. Helio Castroneves jumped to fourth with a victory in Texas.

1). Sebastien Bourdais, Champ Car. Bourdais tries to win for the fifth time this season Sunday at Portland Int’l Raceway.
2). Fernando Alonso, Formula 1. The defending Formula 1 World Champion collected his fifth victory of the season Sunday.
3). Jimmy Johnson, NASCAR Nextel Cup. Johnson was penalized for speeding on pit lane, but still finished 10th at Pocono Raceway.
4). Helio Castroneves, Indy Racing League. Castroneves extended his point lead with his third triumph of the season Saturday night.
5). Melanie Troxel, NHRA Top Fuel. Troxel kept the point lead with her seventh final round appearance of the season.
6). Matt Kenseth, NASCAR Nextel Cup. Finishing fifth Sunday at Pocono Raceway, Kenseth trimmed Johnson’s point lead to 48 markers.
7). Kevin Harvick, NASCAR Nextel Cup; Busch. Harvick kept the Busch point lead with a third-place finish and came home 12th Sunday at Pocono.
8). Ron Capps, NHRA Funny Car. Capps struggled to make the field and was eliminated in the second round at Route 66 Raceway.
9). Donny Schatz, WoO Sprints. Schatz retained the point lead with a pair of top-five finishes at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska.
10). Doug Kalitta, NHRA Top Fuel. Kalitta won for the fourth time in the last five NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events.

Danny Lasoski picked up a pair of NST sprint-car victories, Scott Bloomquist won The Dream dirt-late-model race and Todd Bodine posted another Truck Series triumph.
