(PRWEB) June 17, 2006 -- How we speak shapes our world and the way others see us, says Danish Ahmed whose lifetime search for meaning as a blind, Pakistani Albino, led him from chronic depression and the brink of suicide, to best-selling author, producer and public speaker.
His book, A Dictionary of Distinctions shows how understanding the distinction between the perceived meanings of words can dramatically impact the direction of our lives.
What do 'start' and 'launch' mean to you? Of course, they are a familiar part of your computer jargon. In order to compose your next prose you 'start' your computer program and probably 'launch' your internet browser - but these words have so much more impact.
Danish proposes: "Starting is an important step in anything that we do. Without starting, we're procrastinating. However, the term 'start' is a little ambiguous. In a business venture for example, did we 'start' once we had the first brainstorm of an idea, or did we 'start' once we put in some tangible investment? Are we off to a slow-start, or a fast-start? What defines a 'finish'?
By comparison, Danish distinguishes, "A 'launch' conjures up a visual image. It could be an image of a great rocket that soars to the moon for the first time! It's a big trip and a momentous occasion. More importantly, there is a clear and destined goal, one that is simulated and tested. It's a dream being fulfilled. A launch isn't just about doing something new. It's about doing something extraordinary, doing something that will be achieved, and doing something that will be remembered."
A Dictionary of Distinctions marks the 'launch' of Danish's vision to guide his readers through thought provoking personal examples into improving their communication and life experience by utilizing words with a more meaningful understanding of their impact.
Danish has traveled from Australia, Beijing, Paris and throughout North America as an author and public speaker, actively demonstrating the way speech can either attract or repel success to us.
His book, A Dictionary of Distinctions is a journey through the way language shapes our reality. Using real-life examples of how commonly used words open up new possibilities in the way we communicate.
