Ascender is a leading provider of advanced font products targeted at hardware & software developers and the appointment of Dr. Finger will enhance the company’s portfolio of fonts and font rendering software.

Jeff Finger earned a B.A. in Physics and Chemical Physics at Rice University, an M.S. in Computer Science at University of California at San Diego, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford University. He has been developing computer software for over 20 years, and began developing font technology software in 1987. Jeff managed the font technology group at Imagen, where he developed font hinting software and first worked with Ascender’s Steve Matteson and Tom Rickner. Jeff then worked at Adobe System's Advanced Technology Group, where he was involved in the earliest Acrobat Forms systems and the PostScript Level 2's memory management system. Jeff later developed a variable printing technology that was acquired by WebWare Corporation. Until recently he ran a large volunteer organization in Jerusalem, Israel, where Jeff lives with his wife Yemima.
