In response to a surprising FBI report on rising computer crimes, Sun Star Corporation has announced that it will now offer a free phone consolation for businesses in need of a data backup and recovery plan.

(PRWEB) June 28, 2006 -- In response to a surprising FBI report on rising computer crimes, Sun Star Corporation has announced that it will now offer a free phone consolation for businesses in need of a data backup and recovery plan. The Computer Crime Survey published by the FBI reports that 90% of American businesses were hit with some form of spyware, virus, or online attack in the previous year. Many of these companies lost data critical to their day to day operations.

“Data loss is something many businesses don’t think about until it happens,” says Gavin Rosenberg, Sun Star company marketing director. “Data loss can be a major blow to businesses,” he says, “but can easily be prevented business implement a backup strategy.” According to statistics by the National Archives Records Administration, 93% of businesses that lost data for 10 or more days filed bankruptcy within 1 year.

Following the report, Sun Star Corporation has made available by phone their most knowledgeable recovery consultants to work with business owners in order to develop information backup strategies.

A backup and recovery plan is the process of replicating important data in multiple locations should a virus, accident, or disaster render the primary data storage unit unreadable. This usually takes the form of relatively inexpensive direct attached storage units or magnetic tape backup drives.

The cost to attempt to salvage data on destroyed drives comes at a steep price, costing up to 20 times the amount of preemptive measures. In addition to recovery costs, there are additional staffing costs to recreate the data and often client abandonment if critical customer information cannot be recovered.

“Today’s data backup systems are very simple to use,” says Gavin Rosenberg. “Once the process is in place, data can be backed up automatically at regular intervals so that business can go on doing what they do best without fear that they could lose everything at anytime.”
