Practical Programs Document Management Improves Information Distribution through 400 Elders Rural Bank Branches

Elders Rural Bank has improved access and distribution of information across four hundred branches through the use of scanning and document management software.

Adelaide, SA (PRWEB) June 29, 2006 -- Adelaide headquartered Elders Rural Bank has completed the initial phase of its implementation of advanced new document scanning and document management tools.

The adoption of this technology follows a detailed analysis, in early 2005, of the substantial volumes of hardcopy paperwork that needed to be circulated in the organization.

A joint venture between Bendigo Bank Limited and Futuris Corporation Limited –the parent company of Elders Limited – Elders Rural Bank was formed to deliver a specialist banking service to rural Australia. It was granted its banking licence in 2000, with its products and services now available at over 400 outlets nationally, including the Elders, Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Bank branches.

It was against such a background and a constantly growing customer base that the bank identified an opportunity to enhance its control and management of paperwork.

To identify how such document management enhancements could be achieved, the bank examined a range of options based on the scanning of this source material into digital format and the introduction of IT software tools to provide fast and efficient access to the stored data. Under this initiative, selected hardcopy paperwork is now regularly collated and batched by the bank and provided to Scan Conversion Services’ Adelaide bureau.

SCS provide back to the bank images of all scanned documentation together with a data file containing all bank defined information that has been linked to each image. It is this information that has been linked to each image that enables the bank to perform searches and retrieve electronically the desired documentation.

Once returned to the bank, data is loaded into specialized Dv TDM document management software developed by Practical Programs and supplied and supported by SCS. Installed on Elder’s computer server and branch-wide network, this software now gives all authorized staff immediate on-line access to the scanned data. A process that has streamlined a range of customer service activities eliminated the need for the time consuming transfer of source documentation.
