SkillsPlus solves time-consuming and costly training requirements for drug manufacturers by incorporating the use of multiple Internet services. The result is easier compliance with federal regulations at a fraction of the cost.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 10, 2006 –- Responding to the need for drug manufacturers to provide all new employees and current employees with training in the Current Good Manufacturing Practices, SkillsPlus International offers this training conveniently and cost-effectively via webcasts on a regular schedule.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the enforcement of federal regulation requires drug manufacturers to provide all new employees with an initial training program on the federal regulations guiding the manufacturing of drugs. The FDA also requires drug manufacturers to provide similar training to current employees at least annually. The problem has always been, how to provide new employee training when it is needed, at an acceptable cost, and with qualified instructors. The challenge gets even bigger for most drug manufacturers, that only hire less than five new employees per month. Historically, the cost for this training internally or with contract instructors has been high.
SkillsPlus brings together the resources of a robust web site, enrollment services, webcast broadcasters, and remote instructors to respond to this need. First, the website has been redesigned to announce programs, and simplify enrollment. SkillsPlus is initially offering over a dozen different topics every month, from the very basic to more advanced. The enrollment process uses an online reservation system. Students enroll in the needed class using a credit card. Enrollment confirmation is immediate and the student is sent a user identification and password to attend the scheduled web class.
SkillsPlus’ highly qualified instructors use a webcasting service to teach the classes live from their regional offices around the United States. The instructors use web cams to broadcast their classes. The webcast allows the instructor to share creative visuals. Students can share comments and ask questions of the instructor using voice over the Internet to obtain realtime responses.
In a recent class, the instructor, Dr. Jesse Ball, taught class from the highlands of California while students logged in from Michigan, Illinois, and New Jersey. According to one student, a manager in a pharmaceutical manufacturing organization, “This is the most cost-effective way to complete this required training – and the class really was interesting.” Finally, students assess their learning by taking a final exam also on the Internet. Their exams are scored and students receive a certificate.
SkillsPlus keeps classes small to encourage interaction between students and the instructor, and between other students in the webcast. It is possible to have students from all over the globe learning from each other. The student gets a more meaningful learning experience because of the interaction, and the manufacturer saves on their annual training cost.
