Are You One of the People who are Talking About What They Have Seen "BENEATH"?

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

Due to the enthusiastic response to its unique character, the photographic exhibition “BENEATH” will be extended through August. Two different artists explore the underworlds of the urban environment and of the ocean, revealing the grace and dignity of their respective "endangered species". The Extraordinary Photographic art which results is being exhibited at Sulkin / Secant Gallery in Santa Monica, California.

(PRWEB) July 17, 2006 -- Artists Wayne Hanson and Bruna Stude each explore the power of photography to connect People to their surroundings. One sees under the surface of the sea and the other sees under the surface of the everyday urban setting.

Art-making begins with choices. First must come the will and commitment to look beyond the obvious; to look through the surface; to look "Beneath". In presenting what is under the veneer of the city and under the surface of the sea (both sometimes dark and sometimes glittering), these artworks are not documentation, but rather an artistic choice to illuminate.

… the gallery’s masterful combination of these 2 artists’ work; and also these artists’ masterful combination of craft with a wise investment of their talent and time on a socially significant endeavor.
The arts community has responded particularly strongly to this exhibit. Other artists have commented on “… the gallery’s masterful combination of these 2 artists’ work; and also these artists’ masterful combination of craft with a wise investment of their talent and time on a socially significant endeavor.” A neighboring gallery director noted that “… anyone who admires creativity and the artistic struggle for identity should see this show. They will acknowledge and honor the courage of these two artists; who, though accomplished in their own right, are willing to contribute their work to a broader context and theme, yielding a greater message about human existence and our planet’s.”
