Green Bay, WI (PRWEB) August 1, 2006 -- The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity l feature Composer Claire Rivero’s “Mirror of Eternity” as the August “Song of the Month” free download at www.fscc-calledtobe.org/living.asp.

Each month, specially selected songs and images are chosen to invite spiritual reflection, in particular young women discerning their call in life.

I literally stumbled across this text in that process. I was stunned that I had never heard it set to music before, and from that point absolutely couldn’t get the text out of my mind until I began the composing process.
Composer Rivero explained “Mirror of Eternity,” drawn from St. Clare of Assisi’s phrase “Place your mind before the mirror of eternity”, was inspired by research into written works of women in religious communities from around the world. “I literally stumbled across this text in that process. I was stunned that I had never heard it set to music before, and from that point absolutely couldn’t get the text out of my mind until I began the composing process.”

As a composer, Ms. Rivero is influenced by Debussy, Benjamin Britten, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Her compositions include fifty original works for individual artists and choirs, four of which she has founded.

The “Franciscanized World” page is designed to help visitors see the world as Saints Francis and Clare did - realistically, compassionately, finding good and holy possibility in the substance and culture of everyday life.

"We’ve talked with our current and prospective candidates in their 20’s to learn the best way to reach young women interested in knowing more about us, and possibly joining us,” Sr. Julie Ann Sheahan, OSF, Directress of Vocations said. “We want to present our life as a viable option for them. Personal invitation is always best; however, we became convinced that real conversations can begin by using the language of images and music.”

Established in 1869, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serve in Catholic health care, education and parish ministries in 11 U.S. dioceses (Green Bay, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Tucson, Honolulu, Chicago, Marquette, Jackson, Omaha, Columbus and Steubenville).
