(PRWEB) August 2, 2006 -- In an attempt to counter the misinformation in the market place about handyman specials and fixer uppers RehabList.com has announced the release of a free online video to help people thinking of spending their hard earned money on a less than perfect house with dreams of making a profit.

"Handyman specials and flipping houses are all the rage," said Michael Collins founder and CEO of RehabList.com. "While the boom has cooled a little, interest in handyman and fixer upper type houses seems to be increasing without regard to the market -- people are crazy for them."

In the video, Collins and his partner Charles Cailliau go through the rehab of an entire house from beginning to end. The video is the first of a series for people looking to successfully get into the rehab business and is suitable for anyone seriously considering a fixer upper type home or investment.

With the advent of all the "made for TV investor shows" the average television viewer can sometimes get an unrealistic view of how difficult an entire house rehab can be. It tends to be glorified a bit on television.

"The horror stories we would hear from new people trying to tackle to big a job prompted us to help." Choosing the right house with "the right things wrong with it" is job one. If people tackle much more than cosmetic fix up -- they can sometimes get themselves into trouble.

So why give a way a video that is almost an hour long and costs tens of thousands of dollars to produce? According to Collins the site is a free nationwide listing service for undervalued property used by Realtors, bankers, investors and the public at large.

The goal of the video was simply to create a more educated consumer. "One mistake and people are either out of the business or worse yet, out of their new home until it can be properly repaired. If we can help in the education process -- that's always been our goal."

About the company:

RehabList.com was formed over three years ago to be a marketplace for undervalued homes in the Tampa Bay area. It has since grown into most major metro markets nationwide. The site is used daily by Realtors, bankers, investors and the public. The service is free.
