A small, Princeton, Wisconsin-based Internet company inroduces a cutting-edge technology application on its website -- the very first of its kind: Directly connecting users to online lake maps with GPS capabilities, using only an Internet browser and no other special software.
Princeton, WI (PRWEB) August 4, 2006 -- Fishermen ... finding an ideal spot is no longer guesswork; it’s now an exact science. Lake-Link, Inc. recently launched the next evolution of online lake maps, providing the latest, cutting-edge technology. With this exciting, new service, www.lake-link.com allows anglers to navigate the waters beforehand, by accessing GPS coordinates of any spot on nearly 1,000 Wisconsin lakes via computer and without the use of any other special software.
Web-site co-owner, Darin Novak said, “We’re excited that Lake-Link.com is the first site of its kind to directly connect users to online lake maps with GPS capabilities, using only an Internet browser and no other special software. Now, with just the click of a mouse, you can really enjoy your angling adventures by pin-pointing just the right fishing location ahead of time.” Unique to the industry, the interactive topographical map-viewer on the Lake-Link web site opens the lake maps right in the web browser. GPS coordinates of any point on the lake are located by simply running the mouse over the selected spot.
Get Hooked
To checkout the topographical Map Viewer Application and view the maps on www.lake-link.com, an Internet connection is required, any browser can be used, and a Flash Viewer 8 or the latest upgrade needs to be installed. For a demonstration, non-members can take a trial tour of the GPS tool clicking on a link from the home page.
Members have complete access to the Map Viewer and the entire site at all times. With this new feature, maps can be printed as well as customized to a person's preference by taking notes that are automatically saved in the system for later retrieval and future modifications from any computer.
Landing The Big One
The innovative Lake-Link.com web site was the brainchild of two Wisconsin brothers, Steve and Darin Novak, both avid fishermen and outdoorsmen. Since the site launched in ’97 with the goal of gathering and sharing information with fellow outdoor enthusiasts, it’s grown by leaps and bounds to include a database with over 20,000 Midwestern lakes, plus giving tourists helpful state-to-state information about lodging, local events and even on-line specials and shopping. “As far as traffic, we are one of the largest Midwest-based fishing websites,” commented Novak. And according to recent figures, the website receives over 1 million visits per month and more that 8 million page views per month. The comprehensive site is organized for all levels of visitors and major sponsorship such as Yamaha Outboards, Dodge, Wisconsin Department of Tourism, Lowrance Electronics and Frabill adds to their credibility and visibility.
