(PRWEB) August 5, 2006 -- Revelation Software announced today that one of its flagship products, OpenInsight for Linux version 7.2 (OIL), has been named a finalist in the Linux Journal Product Excellence Awards at LinuxWorld for Best Application Development Platform and Tool.
The latest release of OpenInsight for Linux includes a DataSet Object, which is the key to unlocking client/server connectivity. The DataSet Object is implemented within the product’s visual Client/Server Workspace, an environment in which developers create and manage database components using a collection of visual tools. The database access and manipulation components are separated from other application components and are reusable across multiple applications.
“We’re very honored to be chosen as a finalist for the Product Excellence Awards,” said Mike Ruane, President of Revelation Software. “Our users have known about the power and quality of OpenInsight for years. I’m happy to see that the Linux community also recognizes our achievements. OpenInsight is truly the Application Developer’s Toolkit, no matter what platform the application is written for.”
OpenInsight for Linux (OIL) is available for evaluation as a download from www.revelation.com. It runs on all major Linux distributions, and on both Linux desktops and servers.
