Money Yung’n Records decides to postpone the release of Sqad Up’s new album, 'We Here Now' as they are in talks with major labels.
(PRWEB) August 8, 2006 -- Independent record label Money Yung’n Records has put a hold on the release of Sqad Up’s new album, ‘We Here Now’ originally set for August 8th, 2006. The decision was made due to current negotiations between MYR and several major labels including Def Jam.
The Sqad Up movement created by Money Yung’n Records has been noticed by label heads across the board and sparked an onslaught of interest about the project. The continuous self promotions nationally region by region in conjunction with the street promotions, radio and interaction with retailers reveals, an independent making moves as a major label. Sharing media coverage, including featured interviews and publication covers along side other major recording artists has only reinforced those sentiments. “From the way Sqad Up was moving, it looked as if they were already signed to a situation with a major label”, says Lenny S., VP, A&R of Def Jam.
Money Yung’n Records has been able to establish strong relationships with nationwide independent retail stores and online retailers through their underground releases. MYR also set up business relationships with service vendors for the sale of ringtones, digital downloads and merchandising, and is looking to align itself with a label to expand on the market share. “Bringing in a situation with a major label will increase our already strong media presence”, says Money Yung’n executive Jay Exclusive, “and we are also looking forward to exploring various cross marketing opportunities.”
While in negotiations, several tracks from the current album will be released to the street via the clubs and radio. “It is important for Sqad Up to give the fans new music and at the same time, keep the presence on the airwaves and in the street”, says Money Yung’n executive Jay Exclusive. Sqad Up is back in the studio working on new tracks with several notable producers to be added to the revamped album. MYR is looking to release ‘We Here Now’ early in the fourth quarter.
Several things are planned for August 8th, 2006 for the fans which include a brand new Sqad Up website at the same address, www.sqad-up.com. Sqad Up will post messages to the fans and address direct questions on the Forum discussion boards. Fans will also be able to download an exclusive free Sqad Up mixtape. The group will also be launching a new myspace page at www.myspace.com/thesqad for fans to leave their comments and messages for the members.
Many new things are directly on the horizon for Sqad Up for the remainder of 2006 with Money Yung’n Records overseeing the process and positioning the group for their long overdue success.
