The American Dream is Alive and Well--This Story Proves It

An invention, an audition and a lucky break turn one person's life into an amazing journey. This human interest story is proof that the American Dream is still possible to achieve.

(PRWEB) August 14, 2006 -- The owner and founder of Best Buddy Pet Products, Inc., Lyn Townshend, is living the American Dream and wants to share her story to encourage others to follow suit. Townshend has had some amazing experiences this past year by appearing on The American Inventor Show, leaving her corporate job to launch her own small business based on her invention and then being interviewed by INC Magazine in the August 2006 issue prompted by her unusual funding method through a new person-to-person lending forum online called Prosper.

Best Buddy Pet Products, Inc. has only one product for sale that is brand new on the market for animals. It is a waterproof, lined leg covering used to facilitate the healing of animal leg injuries. According to Townshend, "this new leg covering is a better product than the booties that fall right off the legs and better than the Elizabethan collar because an animal's entire body is not restricted and they still retain their peripheral vision."

Townshend's story began simply enough out of necessity when her dog, Buddy, hurt one of his front paws. It wasn't a serious injury that required any bandaging, but he immediately began licking it and causing irritation to the small wound. "I knew that if I didn't stop him from doing this, it would become an infected wound that would then require medical attention. Since he stays home alone during the day, I had to come up with a way to prevent him from bothering just one paw but didn't want to use the restrictive E-collar (the "lamp shade") that I have from the veterinarian", Townshend says.

After she invented the leg covering, dubbed "The Strock™", it occurred to Townshend that many other pet owners would need this product as well. And that changed the course of Townshend's life when she auditioned, and then advanced to round two, of the reality TV Show, The American Inventor.

After that, events happened with lightning speed as Townshend left her corporate job, launched her own business and was interviewed by INC Magazine. According to Townshend, "I just want to share with America that dreams can certainly come true for anybody that has the determination to succeed. I am living proof of that."
