(PRWEB) August 16, 2006 -- Photogold http://www.photogold.co.uk has opened the UK's first Interactive art gallery. Their showcase site is on Sky Interactive TV.

For the first time ever more than 8 million Sky subscribers can view top quality art images from the comfort of their own living room. A string of exciting new developments are planned for Sky TV culminating in viewers being able to buy fine art prints directly from their TV.

To access the Sky TV site, press the Interactive button on a Sky remote control and choose option 0, then Sky Interactive. Enter the Photogold SkyKey 774687 on your remote control. These numbers correspond to the letters "PRINTS" on your Sky remote.

Interest in art in the UK is at an all time high. Print reproductions earn Scottish artist Jack Vettriano more than 1/2 million pounds a year. This year a new set of limited edition giclee prints was published. The prints represent a new phase in his work. More than ever before they are highly charged, erotic images.

Photogold was formed in 1998 and was one of the first companies to supply limited edition prints by Jack Vettriano to an online audience. Vettriano has published silkscreen and giclee prints in limited editions .Art collectors have been snapping up old and new silkscreens and rare early prints. Vettrianos's work has been described as erotic and alluring with strong sexual overtones. Often the face of one or both figures is hidden.

The website http://www.photogold.co.uk offers a wide selection of limited edition prints and fine art prints by top UK artists Jack Vettriano, Beryl Cook, Graeme Baxter, Lisa Jay, Shazia and many more.

Sky Net is the name for the new Sky e-commerce portal giving subscribers the opportunity to browse through pictures from top retailers. Later this year viewers will be able to buy directly from the TV.

Born in Fife, Scotland in 1954, Vettriano left school at sixteen to work as a mining engineer in the local coalpit. For his twenty-first birthday, a girlfriend gave him a set of watercolour paints and, from then on, he spent much of his spare time teaching himself to paint. The Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery, with its renowned collection of 19th and 20th century Scottish paintings, was a source of great inspiration to him. He has had sell-out exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong and Johannesburg. In November 1999, Vettriano's work was shown for the first time in New York, when twenty paintings were displayed at The International 20th Century Arts Fair.
