Celebrating 20 years of Service to the Home School Community of Texas

The Woodlands, Texas (PRWEB) August 18, 2006 -- The 6th Annual Texas Home School Coalition State Convention and Family Conference will be held August 17-19, 2006, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. Over 2500 attendees from around Texas, the state with the largest home school population in the country, are expected to participate in the conference that offers something for the whole family.

Thursday night, August 17th at 7 p.m., free workshops are offered to the public. Keynote speaker, Sally Clarkson, will cover Home-Centered Learning: Living and Learning Together at Home. In addition, Norm Wakefield will speak on guiding children into adulthood with Scouts in the Homeschool Wagon Train. Thursday evening will be an introduction to the workshops scheduled on Friday and Saturday for those considering home education and seeking information as well as for veteran homeschool parents preparing to start the school year.

Our conference promises to be an event filled with inspirational speakers, workshops, and social activities that will empower Texas homeschoolers as the new school year kicks off.
The Texas Home School Coalition is a non-profit educational organization whose purpose is to support those who wish to teach their children at home. The group is celebrating its 20th year in its mission to serve the Texas homeschooling community and promote home education in the state. THSC President Tim Lambert said, "Our conference promises to be an event filled with inspirational speakers, workshops, and social activities that will empower Texas homeschoolers as the new school year kicks off."

This year's lineup of keynote speakers includes author Sally Clarkson, the Rev. Norm Wakefield, Mantle Ministries' “Little Bear” Wheeler, and creator of Hank the Cowdog and storyteller, John Erikson. Mike Snavely of Mission Imperative will lead the teen program while the Children's Ministries of Texas engage youngsters in a wide variety of fun sessions. There will also be special informational meetings for families with special needs children, only children, and single parents, as well as support group leaders and minority families.

Texas Home School Coalition Association is one of the largest home school organizations in the United States. THSC Association supports new home schoolers in Texas, provides leadership training for local support groups, and offers legal assistance for member families throughout the state as well.
