A site dedicated to moms launched for the buying and selling of used baby and children's items. MomsSpace.com is a place with "something for every mom."
Austin,TX (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- When her second child turned one, Austin mom Shetal Patel found herself with too much stuff. Toys, newborn clothing and other baby items were cluttering her home.
So she got online. As she began putting the items up for sale on the internet, she realized she couldn’t find a web site dedicated to mothers. By March, she had hired a web developer and launched a site for the buying and selling of used baby and children’s items in the area. She used her friends to test her site, asking them for feedback and input. The suggestions started rolling in. Suddenly, she was posting pictures of her friends’ kids -- which turned into a Baby of the Week section -- and she began posting advice moms wanted to share. In a few short months, her web site had turned into what she believes is a place with “something for every mom.”
Today, MomsSpace.com contains a product catalog, a job section, a Baby of the Week contest, news articles, Deals for Moms section, and a discussion forum where moms can share experiences and advice.
MomsSpace.com, Patel says, is a person-to-person marketplace, one of the fastest-growing trends on the Internet.
“When you can go to one site and make financial transactions as well as personal interactions, you’re likely to revisit that site,” Patel said. “On MomsSpace.com, you can purchase a gently used Diaper Genie, post your baby’s photo, browse through job listings or share a story about breastfeeding. It’s one-stop-shopping for motherhood.”
Patel says she hopes her site will make life easier for moms. The site is easy to access, anonymous and free of charge. It’s also free of hassle.
“Once you have kids, your goal is to simplify your life,” Patel said. “As this site evolved, every single change was made with one question in mind: Is this going to make the life of another mom easier?”
Patel said she currently is not drawing a profit from her web site, and that’s fine with her.
“Once enough moms join this community, and we build a space that you want to visit again and again, the income will follow,” she said.
