Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 22, 2006 -- Cathy E. Minehan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, has been elected a Trustee of the MGH Institute of Health Professions, a graduate school affiliated with the Massachusetts General Hospital, and a member of the Partners Healthcare System, Inc.

In addition to her role on the MGH Institute’s board, Ms. Minehan is active in civic and community affairs. She serves as a trustee of the Massachusetts General Hospital and as a Director of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. She is also a trustee of the University of Rochester and serves on the board of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable and Jobs for Massachusetts. Minehan graduated with a BA in political science from the University of Rochester, and earned her MBA from New York University.
“We are very fortunate to add Cathy Minehan’s leadership capabilities to the strengths of our board as well as continuing the tradition of an MGH trustee serving as an Institute trustee,” said MGH Institute President Ann W. Caldwell.
The MGH Institute of Health Professions (www.mghihp.edu), an academic affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital, is an innovative and independent graduate school that operates within the framework of Partners HealthCare System. A progressive leader in developing comprehensive models of health care education, the MGH Institute prepares advanced practice professionals for careers in the fields of nursing, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, medical imaging (radiologic technology) and clinical investigation through a distinctive combination of academic study, clinical practice and research.

[Editors: Our style preference is to not spell out ‘MGH’ on a first reference to our name, as it incorrectly implies the Institute is a department within the hospital. Alternately, we recommend, “The MGH Institute of Health Professions, an academic affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital…”]
